dancing LEOPARD GECKO

cool photo of a LEOPARD GECOK mid-waltz i found. wanted to study how translucent materials like skin react when hit by a light. lots of subsurface scattering on the parts of his/her body where it's thin, like on the arms. i really like how his innards are also apparent.

that's enough lizards for now..

The Willows

Read a book for a viz dev project I did with some friends over the summer, titled "The Willows" by Algernon Blackwood. It's about this creepy marshland that is apparently inhabited by these alien creatures and their presence causes the main character to become mad as he tries to block them from invading his thoughts. I thought that maybe the makeshift driftwood island he took refuge on was the actual creature itself.

Scifi Stuff

Mechanic
Took one of my mechanics a bit further. I kind of like how she turned out.

Junkyard Hit
Moment Thumbs
These are moment thumbs I did of a scenario involving an assassin or bounty hunter that goes out to perform a hit on a junk dealer at his junk yard. Motivations remain.. ominous.

Background
A sci-fi, Star Wars inspired environment. Work and process shown below.
Update: August 24

Process

Character Design
Based on a character from the book "How to survive in a Science Fiction Universe". In this book, the main character is a ship mechanic that lives in near-solitude inside of a tiny cramped ship with his dog. His job is to wait for distress signals from other travelers to offer to repair their issues. I thought I would try to conceptualize this character in a less cartoony fashion than I am accustomed to but still maintain an interesting variety of shapes and line.

Because this person lives a bit of a solitary life, I thought it would be interesting to give each of them an animal/pet that they kept on board to keep them company that reflects their personality in some way.

Update: Taking the 3 dudes I chose a little further:

mutated pets

Over the winter break we had to adapt a greek Myth and make it into a modern story. I took the tale of Bellerophon. In my rendition, Bellerophon is an inner city youth that gets caught with weed by his parents, so they send him off to get a job. He joins a ponzi scheme selling pet medications, that turn the pets into mutants.
